The University of Prishtina and FLOSS Kosovo are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the First International Software Freedom Conference of Kosova, which will be held on August 29 and 30 at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engeneering, University of Prishtina.

Considering the pioneering nature of this conference, the focus will be on the following subjects:

* What is free software and open source?
* How can free and open source software help in economic development?
* How can public and private institutions benefit from free and open source software?
* Copyright, Licensing and Patents
* Wikimedia and Free Culture
* Use of free and open source software for Schools and Business?
* How to work with Microsoft using Free Software and Open Source?
* Developers presenting work on projects.
* Use of free and open source software for:

* Desktop,
* OS Kernel,
* Programming/scripting languages,
* Development tools,
* Databases,
* Security,
* Networks,
* Collaboration,
* Web, Web 2.0,
* GRID/Clusters,
* Multimedia and video production
* Toolkits
* Voice over IP

Authors are encouraged to also submit papers on any other topic not listed above but related to free and open source software.

Submission Guidelines

Your proposal will need to include:
* Your name and a bit of bio info (include a bit about your qualifications regarding your presentation topic)
* Name of talk
* A really brief summary of the presentation (around 200 words). If the paper is accepted you will need to provide a summary of your paper in no more than 1000 words.
* Who your talk is likely to interest (some keywords)
* Name and bio information of any co-authors

Papers can be in one of the national languages of Kosovo or preferably in English.
Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their proposal by the proposal acceptance date.
If you require faster confirmation of acceptance (for example, because you are traveling from overseas and require extra time to make arrangements) please communicate this to the committee when submitting your proposal

Even if you are not interested to speak, we encourage you to pariticpate at the conference. Registration is open and can be accessed by going to:

WordPress License plugin

Creative Commons has created an interesting plugin for WordPress that permits to easily choose a specific icense for your website and publish it in the footer. We are working for improving it.

I think it can be improved and these are my suggestions:

• add an explicative xhtml text template in the footer, specifying that this license is the default license that can be different for each post, if noted: “Except where otherwise <a href=”http://[for example, a credits page]“>noted</a>, content on this site is licensed under a [full name of the license]”; the user can modify this template (for example “<p>© 2007 by Lorenzo De Tomasi. Except where otherwise <a href=”http://[for example, a credits page]“>noted</a>, text only content on this site is licensed under a [full_name_of_the_license] <br />[license_button]</p>”;
• choose a specific license for each post: when you install the plugin, it automatically adds in each “Write post” page a box where you can choose the specific license for the single post, answering to the three simple questions you can find in wp-license options;
• the specific text before the license button can be added and modified in each post, for example “All images in this post are property of Matteo Bedendo. Text only content of this post is licensed under a [full name of the license]”;
• add license property in TheLoop, for displaying the license for each post in archives, category pages etc.

Login/register widget, with the same options of wp-login.php: “Remember me”, “Register” and “Forgot password?” options.
If logged in it displays the status and name of the user, with direct link to the profile.
Custom widget title and abstract before the login form/infos.
Compatible with qTranslate plugin for multilingual support.
